Llama mini interview: UnseenDragon

We llamas are very curious. Our craving for knowledge and understanding is limitless, that is why we smell and bite all those things. For this reason I will try to prepare a serie of mini interviews with people of the Shroud of the Avatar community, because I want to know about you all.

My first illustrious guest is UnseenDragon, the creator of Sota Bricks, the site dedicated to building with Lego the sceneries of New Britannia. I hope you enjoy the interview as much as I do.

Suit up in the Hearth of Britannia party!

Q: Where was your love for SotA born?

A: I’ve been a fan of Richard Garriott/Lord British since I was about 10 in the mid-80s. I started with Ultima 5 on the Apple II+ and the series had a big impact on me in terms of thinking about philosophy and experiencing a world unlike what other games had. I actually did a write-up of my feelings about Ultima which I need to dig up. When I saw him tweet about his Kickstarter, I backed in the first few minutes.

Q: And your idea about a site of SotA with Lego?

A: That came from the Hearth of Britannia 24-hour Telethon. Stephen Daniele and Joseph (Rustic Dragon) were discussing a sketch of a corner of the Hearth and some building designs. For whatever reason it sparked me wanting to build my vision of the Hearth in Lego. I have been building with Legos for a long time, but that project really focused me. After I finished it, I just started building other SotA related Lego buildings. After a while I figured that I needed a place to post all of the assets.

Q: Which aspects of the game are you most interested?

A: It may sound silly, but I’ve not thought a lot about the mechanics of the game. I’m really somewhat just seeing with Richard, Starr, Tracy, et al. come up with. I’m of course looking for an engaging story and a fun game, but beyond that I’m looking for something new and interesting.

Q: Can you say something positive about this purple site?

A: I’m amazed by the broad scope of fan sites, and I think yours is a nice addition. Sometimes people forget that this is all about fun.

Q: If you were a crazy animal, which animal will you be?

A: In honor of Dr. Cat and his fellow (ex) Penguin Software colleagues – A crazed capybara of course!
