It has been a long time since my last time writing about the state of Shroud of the Avatar. I should say that the last official update was the best ever: they dedicated some space to the glorious Gallery of Wonderful Horrors! Yaaay!
Now I want to share few thoughts about some of the new characteristics added lately:
Dragons? Bah! Tales! I just need to live in peace and work hard with my pickaxe... |
- Giant size monsters like the troll or the dragon are my favorites, together with the mimics. I still hate the imps, they are even uglier than human beings after too much tequila. :D
- Player Owners Towns (PoTs), is maybe a little bit polemic but a very interesting characteristic. Portalarium have no resources to personalize hundreds of towns, but there is hundreds of communities or players that wish to do it, and they will pay for that! The most important is that now (probably) will be more interesting to visit random villages in the map. Or I hope!
- About cities and personalization: I like the details added to Ardoris, they are important. Some people love that the cities, in the Ultima series universe, has different personalities and tastes. I think we are starting to appreciate here the same.
- But Desolis... This gothic "city" nowadays is just a pyrrhic campsite. To compensate the dungeon here is a dream for every dark wizard.
- New skills like fishing or taming make the game more complete. We will see more in the R23, together with a ton of new Halloween stuff. Fish the Ancient Ring!
- I like more the new skill system, with a bigger touch of UO, but we all know that is still growing. The idea of a mixed system with the random cards is not bad for most of the players.
- Overall I think that the game is going well. The most important points to fix for me (I will not speak about PVP) are the loading screens and the water. They could dissuade new players.
- Definitely I like more this overworld map than the paper one. It was the correct decision.
- Nightmare masks are cool! And those flaming coconuts (not the bras) will be also good.
- Music! Books! (Even if I am not using them in a classical way..)
That and to be separate from big companies. Even if gustball is not FIFA.
Note: Those mini items could look superb in my Lilliput island!
